HOW TO CITE YOUR SOURCES IN NOODLETOOLS

Set up your NoodleTools account (you only have to do this once):
Create a new NoodleTools Project:
Citing a Gale database article in NoodleTools:
Citing Encyclopedia Britannica articles:

Set up your NoodleTools account (you only have to do this once):
- Go to ClassLink>Curriculum Resources>NoodleTools
- Login with Google
- Select Subscription>Floyd E. Kellam High School
- Select I am a student or library patron and Create Account
- Enter graduation year if prompted and click to submit.
- You will be logged in and see the NoodleTools home screen.
- From now on, when you go through ClassLink, you should be automatically logged in.
Create a new NoodleTools Project:
- Create a new project by clicking green New Project button
- Give project a name and select Starter level (this can always be changed later)
- Click on Sources at the top and you are now ready to cite your sources
Citing a Gale database article in NoodleTools:
- When you have found a Gale article, click on the Cite button located at the top right of your screen.
- Select your citation style: MLA, APA, or Chicago
- Select "Export to...NoodleTools" on the pull-down menu.
- A new NoodleTools window will open up - make sure the correct project is selected on the drop-down menu, and click the blue "Import References" button on the bottom. Then close out of that new NoodleTools window.
- Click back to your original NoodleTools window, and refresh the page. Your new citation should now appear in your list of sources!
Citing Encyclopedia Britannica articles:
- When looking at your article, click the blue check mark box near the top right of the page.
- A window will pop up containing the citation.
- Highlight the entire citation and copy it to the clipboard.
- On Noodle Tools Sources tab, click on Create New Citation.
- Select Database and then Original Content in Database.
- At the top of the form click the link to Quick Cite: Copy and Paste a Citation.
- Paste the citation from your clipboard into the box and submit.
Citing Proquest and SIRS Knowledge Source articles:
- When you have found a Proquest article, click on the Cite button located at the top right of your screen.
- Select your citation style: MLA, APA, or Chicago
- Select "Export to...NoodleTools" on the pull-down menu.
- A new NoodleTools window will open up - make sure the correct project is selected on the drop-down menu, and click the blue "Import References" button on the bottom. Then close out of that new NoodleTools window.
- Click back to your original NoodleTools window, and refresh the page. Your new citation should now appear in your list of sources!
Citing a website:
- Click New Citation and select Website and then Web Page (or another type of website).
- Cut and paste URL of website into top box.
- Look around on the website (top, bottom, etc.) for the information to fill in the rest of the NoodleTools fields, and click Save.
Citing a print book:
- Click New Citation and select Print or In-Hand and then Book.
- Enter the ISBN number found on the barcode on the back of the book.
- NoodleTools will walk you through the creation of the citation (click on the title of the book, click Import Selected Resource, click Continue, and click Save).
